By road from Melbourne – via Princes Highway and Neerim South, or the South Face Road (25 km on a wide dirt road) via Erica or via the Warburton Highway and Powelltown, Noojee and Tanjil Bren to Mt Baw Baw Village- taking approx. 2½ - 3 hours. Care should be taken at all times.
Please be aware that there is NO FUEL at Mt Baw Baw, ensure that you have enough fuel to drive back to your next destination. The last reliable petrol station is at either Warragul, Moe or Tyers. In the cold weather, diesel can gel up and block your fuel lines. Please purchase an anti-gel additive from any auto shop.
For the winter season, resort entry to Mount Baw Baw is not included in your accomodation booking. You must book an entry pass to cover both your entire stay including your arrival and departure days. Purchase your entry to the resort via this link: https://www.mountbawbaw.com.au/
Green Season (October to May)Cars may be parked near our Lodge, there is a designated driveway for 3 vehicles behind each other. There is NO charge for entry into Mount Baw Baw.When you arrive at the main TOP car park, please take the left hand road down (Candle Heath Drive) and drive down the hill approx 100 meters . When you get to an intersection keep right, then about 50 meters down you will come to the sign "Tanjil Creek Lodge" on your right.To get into your accommodation follow the signs to Tanjil Creek Lodge and use the KEYPAD , to be able to enter the front door (Drying Room)White Season (June to September) All accomodation during the winter season is not accessible by vehicle. Guests must drop their luggage at Carpark 1, then park in Carpark 2 or 3 before walking to Tanjil Creek Lodge.Oversnow transport is available for luggage only at an additional cost of $40 per trip. This service must be booked in person at the Guest Services building and is only available during opening hours.
Chains are required by law to be carried during winter months and fitted at the gate if directed. Please make sure you're carrying them as you will be checked upon entry.
There are chain Hire Shops in Melbourne, Neerim South, Tanjil Bren, Icy Creek, Erica and at the Entry Gate to Mt Baw Baw.
Before you leave home, look at the size of your tyre ( it is one less task when you get to the chain hire) Ensure you have a pair of rubber gloves in your car (easily accessible).
